Plastics are polymers that can be molded into the desired shape. It is non-biodegradable in nature. A plastic product takes millions of years to decompose. It causes environmental pollution and destroys the ecosystem of our earth. Plastic pollution kills marine biodiversity, causes harm to fishes and reptiles. It imbalances the mangroves and wetland areas, threatening the niche of the species.

The burning of plastic waste causes air pollution by releasing toxic gases such as carbon dioxide, sulpur dioxide, etc. Plastic pollution causes harm to humans, animals, and birds. It destroys soil fertility and damages our agriculture.

Although plastic has its own uses as well which can not be eradicated but we can reduce its usage through the process of recycling, reducing, regenerating, and reusing. Plastic bottles, cans, brushes, plastic chairs, are a few products which we are using in our daily life. Find some alternatives such as jute or cotton bags etc in place of plastic polythenes. Create awareness among the masses about its harmful repercussions. The government must adopt some stringent legislative measures to reduce its usage. There must be some punitive measures for the violators of these laws.

Thus we can say that with the help of community effort we can reduce its usage and make our planet more sustainable for the survival of living beings.
