Introduction-

The problem of pollution has become very serious today. Man has interfered too much with Nature. As a result, environment which includes air, water, soil, etc. has been polluted. It environment is polluted all of shots of life- human, animal, and vegetation are affected directly or indirectly.  Step by step, the precious gifts of nature are being destroyed and human life is being shorted by the polluted air we breathe and unhealthy water we drink.

Kinds of Pollution-

There are three kinds of pollution viz- (I) air pollution, (I) water pollution, and (III) noise pollution.

Air pollution– Air pollution is mostly caused by the smoke coming out of the chimneys of factories, mills, and workshops, etc. Mills producing chemicals and acids out give out such a foul smell that it becomes difficult to breathe. Air pollution may cause lung diseases, asthma, eye-flue, headaches, etc.

Water pollution- Water is the basis of life but the greed of man to get more and more money pollutes it. The owner of industries waste material either on the surface of the earth or in canals, rivers, and seas, etc. which pollutes the freshwater and destroys the millions of marine mammals. People use this polluted water and invite a number of diseases. Water pollution resulted in the outbreak of cholera in a number of colonies of various megacities, and villages of the country. The Hindus float the dead bodies of their relatives in holy rivers. Water animals eat these dead bodies and spoil the water. Factories and industries are discharging their harmful chemical water into rivers. 

Noise pollution-  Noise pollution is dangerous for our life. It is said that noise more than 80 decibels (dB) causes deafness and other diseases. In large cities the roar of vehicles is unbearable. If one stands at some busy center, he finds cars, scooters, buses, trucks, and other automobiles passing there in thousands. Their engines and horns create noise pollution which is harmful to people’s physical and mental health.

How to check pollution-

To check this pollution, there should be planned industrialization. The debris of industries should not be dumped on the surface of the earth in the rivers. It should be destroyed by supervisors with suitable chemicals and implements. One major step to check pollution is to create a technology for investigating and acting on complaints of the irresponsible use of technology, as many people misuse technologies without keeping in mind their long-term ill effects. Similarly, society has to for air pollution caused by the private and government industries. A technological expert could serve as an official that can call the press attention towards those who have applied new technologies irresponsibly. He can pressurize for the responsible use of new technology. Another step can be the use of less harmful technologies. the most important step to check pollution is public awareness. People should be made aware of the evil effects caused by pollution. Growth of trees should be encouraged. People should try to increase afforestation and reduce deforestation. People should not dump domestic waste on the streets. We should remain akin to nature. Check on growth population is also necessary to control the increasing pollution of the environment.

Keeping in mind the seriousness of the problem, the Government of India has set up the Department of Environment to control pollution. The people of the country should also co-operate with the government. Only then our planet Earth can provide a clean and green environment for all living beings.
